Street works, NRSWA & reinstatement

LMC Utilities holds NERS accreditation for cable laying and civils works from LV to 132kV, together with Achilles UVDB B2 accreditation. Both accreditations are current and provide pre-qualification assurance for DNOs, ICPs and principal contractors.

All surface reinstatement is carried out to highways authority and DNO specification. It is completed by the same crew that opened the trench, with supervision maintained throughout. Defective reinstatement is one of the most common causes of disputes and retentions on cable route packages. LMC Utilities’ approach eliminates that risk.

NERS & Achilles accreditation for cable route works

LMC Utilities is NERS accredited for cable laying across LV, 11kV, 20kV, 33kV, 66kV, and 132kV. On the Achilles UVDB network, LMC Utilities is registered specifically for underground cable laying from 1kV to 198kV. Both accreditations are current and can be confirmed on request by DNOs, ICPs, and principal contractors.

CAT & Genny scanning

All excavation begins with Cable Avoidance Tool (CAT) and Signal Generator (Genny) scanning to locate underground utilities before any digging commences. LMC Utilities operates to Safely Digging Around Services guidance and maintains trained operatives on all cable route and utility trenching work.

Permit controlled excavations

LMC Utilities operates within DNO permit control systems. Personnel hold authorisations to receive and clear Permits to Work (PTWR(b)-CP) and Limitations of Access (LOAR(b)-CP), and are authorised to sign onto Safety Documents relating to underground cable works (SDWP(c)-CP). Work within or adjacent to live substations and HV environments follows DNO safety document procedures throughout

Utility coordination and safe systems of work

LMC Utilities coordinates with utility owners, DNOs, and ICPs across the full duration of excavation and reinstatement, managing apparatus identification, permit procedures, and safe systems of work to protect both operatives and existing infrastructure. SHEA Power trained personnel are deployed on all live utility site works.
